New England Analytical is a service
laboratory focused on electron and optical microscopy imaging
and analysis. Photonic, electronic, MEMs, display components,
thin films, and microelectronic packaging have been the historical
focus of this facility. We work directly with manufacturing
personnel and R/D engineers as an early stage collaborator
to characterize the products and processes that result in
higher yields, high reliability, and lower costs.
New England Analytical maintains
several scanning electron microscopes (SEM) and numerous
optical microscopes (OM) to provide a wide range of imaging
choices and magnifications, from low magnification critical
alignment measurements (1X) to high magnification (>100KX),
high resolution observation of surface details of unique
structures.
The capabilities of the SEMs include:
|
- conventional
and field emission SEM
- large
sample chamber capacity
- composition
analysis by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS)
- p/n
junction assessment via electron beam induced current (EBIC)
- voltage
contrast imaging
- characterization
of working devices and failed components using internal multipin “LIVE” package
manipulation/monitoring
- digital
imaging that provides instant documentation and data transfer
for our customers
|
The
optical microscopes provide:
|
- wide
range of magnifications (1X-1000X)
- various
viewing perspectives (polarized light, Nomarski DIC, brightfield,
darkfield)
- long
working distance objectives
- digital
imaging to provide immediate documentation for customer decision
making
|
A
comprehensive cross sectioning wet lab provides several choices
for embedding, polishing, and highlighting samples.
Optoelectronic characterization test stations provide optical and electrical
assessments of photonic components as received from the customer. They
are used to independently assess BI/validation parts, field returns,
and new generation designs as well as monitor the pre/post analysis.
New England Analytical is dedicated to providing our customers
with the technical information and images they need when they need it.
Our imaging and analysis provides the customer with the information necessary
to understand their products and processes and to make specific decisions
that improve product costs, reliability, and performance.
